Our whānau, our journey

What started as a family initiative, has grown into a wider mission to whakamana our ākonga by providing enriching mātauranga (educational) experiences that are seeded indigenous cultural perspectives. We believe in honouring tikanga and kawa whilst we manaaki growth and development, ensuring that every ākonga has access to meaningful, culturally relevant learning opportunities.

Hīnātore Mai - Enlighten Me Education brings multiple organisations together, guiding them from awareness to cultural safety, enhancing cultural consultancy experience.

Ko wai mātou? -
Who are we?

E rere kau mai te awa nui, mai te kāhui maunga ki Tangaroa

Ko au te awa, ko te awa ko au

He uri nō ngā tīpuna maunga ō Ruapehu, Taranaki me Tāmaki-nui-a Rua

Ko Te Atihaunui-a-Pāpārangi, Ngāti Rangi, Tāngahoe me Ngāti Hauiti ngā iwi.

We are a whānau based business led by the teachings and philosophies handed down from generations of educators in both Te Ao Māori and tauiwi spaces.

Ngā whanonga pono: Our Values

Kotahi te kākano, he nui ngā hua o te rākau

A tree comes from one seed, but bears many fruit

Whanaungatanga (Relationships): We prioritize building strong, meaningful relationships within our learning community. This means fostering connections between learners, tutors, and the wider community to create a supportive network.

Ko au te awa, ko te awa ko au

Ko au te whenua, ko te whenua ko au
I am the river, and the river is me
I am the land, the land is me

Kaitiakitanga (Guardianship): We embrace our responsibility to protect and sustain the cultural heritage and environment. Our programs are designed to empower learners to become guardians of their communities and the earth.

He hono tangata e kore e motu, ka pa he taura waka e motu

Unlike the canoe rope, a human bond cannot be severed

Kotahitanga (Unity): We strive for unity and collaboration, working together towards shared goals and celebrating diversity within our community. This unity strengthens our collective efforts and achievements.

Poipoia te kākano kia puawai

Nurture the seed and it will blossom

Manaakitanga (Hospitality and Care): Our commitment to caring for others is at the heart of our mātauranga approach. We ensure a welcoming environment where every learner feels respected and valued, promoting a sense of belonging.

Mai i te kōpae ki te urupā, tatou ako tonu ai

From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning

Ako (Learning and Teaching): Recognizing that teaching and learning are reciprocal processes, we encourage learners to share their knowledge and experiences, enriching the educational journey for everyone involved.
